Two in two days.

I wasn't telling porky's when I said I have been busy, so here are a few more bit's and bob's. Most of my work at the moment seems to be inspired by the mountains or flowers, both of which I love. I have so many ideas floating around in my head, it's difficult to put them all down on paper/fabric. I tend to jump around from one thing to another, sometimes starting two pieces of work at once, but never actually finishing them. With this in mind I am going to try my hardest to focus on one thing at a time for a while and see how much more productive I can become.
Have a great day everyone :-)

Explosions of colour

Hello blogworld! It's been a while...! Whilst I am admittedly the worst blogger in history (It's been MONTHS!) I have actually been pretty busy creating, painting and scribbling down ideas. Here are a few snippets of what I have been doing.

What I lack in my dedication to blogging, I certainly make up for in embracing this beautiful weather, spending as much time as possible on the beach, walking in the mountains and through forests; jumping in lakes and avoiding the hundreds of jellyfish that seem to have appeared in the welsh waters since the sun popped out. My favourite thing about this time of year is that everything becomes so colourful, there are vibrant flowers everywhere, the butterflies are fluttering, the sea is glistening and everyone is in a better mood because of it. Long may it continue. Wishful thinking living in Wales, but I like to be optimistic about these things.

In the meantime it serves as great inspiration for artwork.

A work in progress...

It has been years since I attempted an actual painting...this is my effort so far. I didn't have much of a plan for this, I thought I would just go with it, and i am really enjoying it. I have come to a bit of a standstill on it, so am going to leave it for a while and start something new. I am a bit of a perfectionist and usually stick with clean lines, so it was great to throw caution to the wind and just see what happened. I think i've caught the painting bug again!

Another floral...

Just dropping in quickly with a floral repeat I did a while back.

Floral repeat

So...I have managed to step away from the blues (admittedly this started off as various shades of blue...hallelujah for photoshop) It is a bit of a change to the other stuff I have been producing, but sometimes you just need some florals in your life.

I think I like blue...

I am starting to see a bit of a 'blue' theme emerging in most of my drawings - as demonstrated above. I think i'll challenge myself to step away from the blue palette for a while. Maybe that should be what I give up for lent...it could be tough!...

A bit of an experimentation.

Recently I invested in a drawing tablet but due to work, too much fun in the snow and admittedly a 'small' degree of laziness I have only just got round to having a little play with it. So - the first attempt is not exactly going to win any awards but everyone has to start somewhere...right? It makes a huge difference using the pen rather than struggling to draw a line with my not so very dainty fingers on the mousepad. The above piece was just an experimentation using different layers over a quick painting, but with a deeper thought process I think I can come up with some really interesting designs integrating some of the patterns I have been producing. More on that soon...

I wish everyday was like this.

I wanted to share a few photos from a day I spent in the stunning and peaceful welsh mountains.

Lino triangles

It has been an unproductive few weeks unfortunately. I finally had a day off on Sunday and after a disastrous screen printing session (the less said about that the better) I thought I would have a go at a quick lino print piece. I love how two prints are never the same when using lino, and it creates great texture. The print I ended up with is nothing spectacular - more of an experimentation really - but it made me feel slightly less guilty about how little artwork I have done this month.
